I usually thought Finger Chips is made from only Potato. But when my friend served me this Onion Finger Chips during her son’s birthday party, I was wonder stuck. I mentally noted the recipe she told and tried the very next day at my home. At dinner time I served this yummy Onion Finger Chips to my husband praised me a lot for the snack. You too can prepare this Onion Finger Chips at home and get accolades.
Onion Finger Chips Ingredients :
- Finely chopped Onions – 2
- Finely chopped Green Chilly – 3-4
- Coriander leaves – 1/2 cup
- Maida / All Purpose Flour – 3 cups
- Red Chilly powder – 1/2 tsp
- Oil (for frying)
Time to Prepare: 30 mins
How To Make Onion Finger Chips:
Transfer Maida to a frying pan. Fry the Maida in the pan without adding Oil or Ghee for about 10 min till Maida gives good aroma. Leave the Maida to cool.
To the cooled Maida add chopped Onions, chopped green Chillies, chopped Coriander leaves, Salt, Red Chilly powder with sufficient water prepare a smooth dough which is as thick as Chapati or Poori dough. Keep this dough for 10 min but not more.
Make balls of 3-4 inches diameter from this dough and roll it out into thick round shape in a chapati roll. Let the thickness be about double of that of Poori roll or 3 times that of Chapati roll.
With a help of a knife cut the rolled out dough into rectangular shapes as seen in the image below.
Heat the oil in a pan and once the oil is heated, drop the rectangular sticks into the oil and deep fry.
The onion finger chips taste good and are ideal evening snacks. I guess you can have this with tomato sauce or coconut chutney as well.
The onion chips stay fresh in an air-tight container for a week.
