Easy to prepare, healthy Gooseberry Jam prepared with just 3 ingredients – Amla, Sugar and Cardamom. Amla is known for it high naturally occurring Vitamin C content.
Since Amla is known for its medicinal properties, some go for a spoon of this jam in the morning on empty stomach with a glass of water.

- Amla (Nelli Kai) grated – 1 cup
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Cardamom powder – 1 tea spoon
Time to Prepare: 30 mins
How To MakeAmla Nellikai Jam:
The preparation is pretty simple enough and can be completed in about 15 minutes.
1) Take a steel vessel with 1/4 cup of water and boil the same. When boiling, add sugar until it dissolves completely.
2) To the boiling sugar syrup, add grated Amla, cardamom powder and keep stirring the mixture till it turns medium thick with traces of water still left in the vessel. Leave the mixture to cool.
Upon cooling, the jam turns slightly sticky, jelly like as seen in the photo when it is ready to be served.

The jam tastes slightly bitter sweet and its quite popular due to its unique taste. The Amla Jam or Gooseberry Jam goes well with Chapati and plain Dosa but it can be had on its own whenever one feels like.
