Here I am presenting the concentrated Lemon Juice without adding any preservative. It is required that you to always keep the concentrated this Juice in your refrigerator. This enables you to prepare and serve the Lemon/Lime juice any time in any season. Lemon is good for health especially for gastric problems, tiredness etc.

Time to Prepare : 20 mins

How to Make Lemon/Lime Juice :

  1. In a vessel add Sugar and water. Heat and prepare a Sugar syrup as you would for say, Gulab jamoon. It may take 15-20 min to prepare this syrup.
  2. Cool this Sugar syrup completely. Once it is cooled, add Lemon/Lime Juice and stir properly with spoon so that the syrup and Lemon Juice mix properly. Do not again boil this syrup. Pour this concentrated Juice to a bottle and keep it in refrigerator. You may preserve this for nearly about 6 months if it is in refrigerator.

How to prepare Lemon/Lime Juice from this concentrated Juice :

  1. Take a glass, add 1/4 portion of concentrated Lemon Juice and pour 3/4 cup of water to this glass and stir with spoon. The Lemon/Lime juice is ready.
  2. You can also add Ice cubes to this Juice and serve chilled.

      • Julie – Sorry this took so long. I found this lime concentrate on Amazon.com which may meet your need. It states it is sugarless explicitly in the description of the product – “Key Lime is truly a distinct citrus fruit. More aromatic than the more common Persian Lime, the fruit’s popularity is due to its complex acidic flavor profile. Our Key Lime Concentrate captures these sublime flavor characteristics without added sugar or artifical ingredients.” In fact the company has many other fruit concentrates/purees available for sale there although they look pricey.

BTW, I do not have a way to make my Lime Juice Concentrate recipe sugarless since sugar acts like a preservative to the whole preparation (the whole idea of preparing concentrate is to keep the juice concentrate available for multiple use). The alternative to the Sugar as a preservative is Salt which is not an option here. Some of the Lime Juices from concentrates available in the stores have preservatives added and I do not feel comfortable recommending them. Hope this makes sense.

  1. Thanks very much for the information. I need the concentrate for a medical problem and don’t want the sugar. I guess I will be relegated to taking Potassium Citrate after all which can cause nausea.

  2. Hi Hema,

I really don’t know what is lemon concentrate. Can I use lemon instead of lemon concentrate ? I would really appreciate for this recipe.

    • I never tried using Moosambi. So I can’t comment on the same. Lemon Juice will be more concentrated and acts as a preservative to the juice and you can keep it for more than a month in the refrigerator. But don’t know about Moosambi.

  3. Thanks for explaining how the stirring is a crucial part of using lemon juice concentrate for pretty much anything. I’d like to start looking for a lemon juice concentrate wholesale supplier because I’m thinking about opening a small snack bar soon. I think that having something punchy for its drink menu will pair well with the rich fried foods that I will be serving.
