In my daily menu, I would always love to have more vegetables with Chapati. So I keep preparing a lot of vegetable sabzies either dry or the gravy type. This Balekai or Plantain Sabzi is Dry subzi and is very easy to prepare with simple ingredients. This sabzi can be relished with chapati, plain rice or even with curd rice.

Plantain has carbohydrate source, low fat, vitamin C and high starch content in it. Always pick the green plantains for preparing the Sabzi. Peel the outer covering of the Plantain and cut the plantain into small sized cubes and immediately transfer them into a bowl of water. This will help the plantain not to change its colour. Here I have used only few ingredients. To get good taste of the Plantain subzi, I have just added the Red Chilli Powder. Preparing this subzi is faster too; with only few steps cutting, seasoning and frying without water. Make sure not to add water as this helps the sabzi not to stick the chopped plantain together and become soggy. Go ahead and enjoy making this Balekai /Raw Plantain Subzi.

  1. This subji is really tasty. You may also use vangibhath powder instead of red chilli powder which will also be very tasty.
