Recipe for preparing tasty Badam/Almond Burfi at home in less than an hour instead of paying a premium for it at the local Sweets store. Also a good idea to prepare this for yourself if you or your family is tired of bland tasting Badam Burfi available at many stores.
- Badam / Almonds – 1 cup
- Ghee / Clarified Butter – 2 Tbsp
- Sugar – 1 cup
- Milk – 1/2 cup
- Fresh cream – 1/4 cup
- Kesar – 5-6 strands
How To Make:
Soak Badam in warm water for 4-5 hours. Then hand peel the brown outer covering.
Grind in a mixture grinder the peeled Badam with Milk and fresh Milk Cream (Malai) to make a smooth paste.
In a cup, keep the Kesar strands soaked in 2 tsp of milk.
Take a steel plate and grease it with Ghee. Keep it aside.
Heat 2 Tbsp Ghee in a non-stick pan, add ground Badam paste and 1 cup sugar and stir continuously. In the midst of stirring, add the soaked Kesar. Stir continuously for about 20 min till the mixture becomes a thick paste and stops sticking to the sides of the pan (again non-stick pan is recommended).
Pour the heated Badam Burfi preparation into the greased plate and leave it to cool for about half an hour.
Once cooled, cut it into desired shape and serve.
